Hello World!
My name is Niki Porter. I have been struggling with mental illness for a little over 12 years now. I was diagnosed with Severe Anxiety in 2007 and after struggling for another 10 years I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in 2016. I had 2 years of medication adjustments and was being treated for anxiety. Things still weren’t getting better so at the beginning of 2019 I started getting treated primarily for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and I am starting to see real progress.
I am currently attending online school to get my Bachelors of Science with an emphasis in Operations Management. I love writing and enjoy sharing my story. My biggest goal with creating this blog is to bring awareness to the realness of OCD. I want people to come to understand it as a real disability, not a personality quirk. My other goal is to share what life has been like with it. I would love to be able to share my perspective so that parents, siblings and friends can better understand what there loved one is going through.
Some of my hobbies include writing stories and poetry, jigsaw puzzles, watching Netflix, being outdoors, four-wheeling and listening to music.
Thank you for reading my blog, if you enjoy it feel free to follow me on all my social media accounts in the top right hand corner.
